Stalker 2 will get its first post-release patch in the coming days.
Developer GSC Game World posted a message to the game’s Steam page explaining that the first update will arrive “during the week to come” on both PC and Xbox.
According to its notes, the patch will include numerous crash fixes, progression fixes, gameplay and balance adjustments, visual fixes, softlock fixes and UI improvements.
These include “issues and memory allocation failures, which previously caused the game to exit unexpectedly”, as well as fixes to “several bugs blocking the main quest progression, NPCs getting stuck in objects, incorrect quest markers, and issues with quest cutscenes”.
The update will rebalance the price of weapons with upgrades installed (compared to their price without upgrades) and will tweak NPC behaviour.
“We want to reassure you once more that we will make every effort to constantly improve your Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl experience,” the studio concludes. “We are truly grateful for your feedback and suggestions for improvement.”
The full list of fixes can be found on the game’s Steam page.
Last week GSC Game World acknowledged Stalker 2‘s “rough edges” and pledged to make improvements to the newly released title.
Following a lengthy and highly challenging development cycle, which included the studio partially relocating from Kiev to the Czech Republic following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the post-apocalyptic shooter launched today for Xbox Series X/S, PC and Game Pass.
While reserving praise for the game’s setting and side stories, VGC’s Stalker 2 review said the game suffered from “constant performance issues” and “an uncountable number of bugs”.
