“Spiritomb Challenge” is the latest opportunity to get a Spiritomb in Pokémon Go.

As with every Halloween event, there is new research to catch a Spiritomb — and, as always, the steps are themed around the number 108.

Alongside the time-limited research, there’s also other ways to catch Spiritomb this year. This means you can side step this quest entirely, or ideally, encounter more than one to increase your chances of getting a shiny Spiritomb.

‘Spiritomb Challenge’ Timed Research quest steps

You have between Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. local time until Friday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. local time to complete the following Timed Research quest steps:

  • Catch 108 Ghost- or Dark-type Pokémon (Morpeko encounter)
  • Make 108 Nice Throws (Frillish female encounter)
  • Make 108 Curveball Throws (Frillish male encounter)
  • Collect 1,080 Max Particles (Gastly encounter)
  • Use 108 Berries to help catch Pokémon (Sableye encounter)

Rewards: Spiritomb encounter, 1,080 Stardust, 1,080 XP

How to get Spiritomb during the Halloween 2024 event

Spiritomb is one of the more challenging Pokémon to get a shiny of, as it usually only appears once a year during the annual Halloween event.

However, 2024 is one of the rare occasions where you can catch Spiritomb from a variety of sources. These are:

  • “Spiritbomb Challenge” Timed Research (see steps above)
  • “Morpeko Onesie” paid Timed Research rewards (two encounters)
  • Field Research (“Win 3 Raids”)

In summary, you can claim a total of three encounters through Timed Research — one of which is paid — and you can farm Spiritomb by completing the ‘Win 3 Raids’ Field Research.

There’s never been a better time to get a shiny Spiritomb — good luck!
