Smile 2 just opened in theaters Friday, October 18, but preorders for the horror sequel's eventual Blu-ray release are already live at online retailers. While there's no specific release date, multiple physical editions of Smile 2 have been revealed, including a limited-edition steelbook version.

This two-disc edition of Smile 2 includes the film in 4K UHD, standard Blu-ray, and digital download formats. Bonus features have not been revealed, but we at least know you'll be getting the movie in a limited-edition steelbook case featuring unique cover and interior art.

Preorders are available at Amazon and Walmart, though at different prices. Amazon lists 4K steelbook edition for $45, while Walmart has it for $35. We expect the prices will change to match sometime before the Blu-ray releases. Either way, ordering at either retailer locks you in for their preorder price guarantee, meaning you'll only pay the lowest price and won't be charged until your order ships.

Smile 2 will also get non-steelbook 4K Blu-ray and DVD editions. Both are available to preorder at Amazon.

Like the first film, Smile 2 is a horror tale where people are cursed by disturbing hallucinations of smiles no one else can see until they are eventually killed. The sequel follows a new main character, pop singer Skye Riley (Naomi Scott), who unwittingly inherits the curse just before she goes on tour.

For newcomers to the series who want to see the origin of the curse, the first Smile movie is also available in multiple Blu-ray editions, including a two-disc steelbook edition just like the one coming for Smile 2. You can grab it for $39 at online retailer Zavvi. The steelbook edition includes the first Smile movie in 4K and standard Blu-ray formats, plus the short film that started the franchise, Laura Hasn't Slept. There's also a selection of special features:

  • Commentary by Director Parker Finn
  • Something’s Wrong With Rose: Making Smile featurette
  • Flies On The Wall: Inside The Score featurette
  • Deleted scenes with optional commentary by Parker Finn

The steelbook edition seems like the perfect way to catch up on the series before Smile 2 releases on Blu-ray. However, if you want something a bit simpler and more affordable, you can also pick up the non-steelbook 4K and standard Blu-ray version of Smile at Amazon.

Horror fans will also want to check out preorders for Terrifier 3, which also recently premiered in theaters but is already getting a Blu-ray release on December 17. The gory killer-clown slasher flick is also getting a 4K collector's edition, among a few other versions.
