The Silent Hill 2 remake has been at the receiving end of a stream of skepticism from many (including yours truly) ever since it was unveiled a couple of years ago, but after a gradual turnaround in reception and pre-launch impressions surrounding the horror title in the lead-up to its release, with reviews having recently gone live, it has now turned out that developer Bloober Team has managed to actually pull off what many had deemed impossible.
At the time of writing, Silent Hill 2’s remake has an aggregate score of 88 on OpenCritic after 41 reviews, and a score of 87 on Metacritic after 57 reviews, with a number of reviews having showered the survival horror title with high praise and scores (including our own).
To commemorate the game’s critical acclaim, developer Bloober Team recently took to Twitter, writing, “We are absolutely thrilled about the scores Silent Hill 2 has received from the global media! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
Silent Hill 2 is currently available on PS5 and PC for those who purchased its Deluxe Edition, with its global release coming on October 8.
