Silent Hill 2 Remake features a little nod to a much-joked about element of the Silent Hill HD Collection, specifically a sign for the town ranch using the Comic Sans front.
In case you aren’t aware, Silent Hill HD Collection wasn’t exactly well received on its 2012 release, as the developer was using incomplete source code and it was filled with problems. In particular, Silent Hill 2’s visuals were pretty horrific — and not in a good way — as the grimy, grainy graphics brought on by the fog and limited hardware in the original were not replicated and removed much of the atmosphere.
The collection also included Silent Hill 3 – which featured a brand new voice cast, although Silent Hill 2 gave you the option of using the original and a new set of voiceovers – but the whole bundle is seen as something of a disaster due to its various performance issues.

The Comic Sans font was something that has bene joked about by fans for years now, and it seems that it’s been included in the remake, albeit hidden in the trash. However, you can go out of bounds in the PC version, revealing the sign dumped in a warehouse with other rubbish. Bloober seems to have thought of everything, eh?
Silent Hill 2 Remake is due out tomorrow on PS5 and PC.
