PS5 Digital Console Recorded Its 2nd Best Month Ever In The UK During September 2024

A report on GamesIndustry.biz has revealed that the PS5 Digital-Only Edition has enjoy its second best month in September 2024, beaten only by December 2023.

The PS5 Digital-Only Edition launched alongside the standard disc-based PS5 in November 2020, and was given a slimmer look last year. Sony also released an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray disc dive that users can connect to the console allowing to play physical media.

Interestingly, the PS5 Pro, which launches on November 7, is only available in the digital-only variation. If you want to play physical media on it, you have to purchase the aforementioned drive, or go digital-only.

Speaking of the PS5 Disc Drive, the unit made an appearance in the charts for the first time at number 21, although it made no.8 in terms of revenue.

On the broader spectrum, the UK saw over 126,000 game consoles sold in September 2024, which represents a drop of 35% from the previous year. The PS5 remained the top-selling console, with Xbox Series X/S following in second place and Nintendo Switch in third.
