It’s been about four years since Hitman studio IO Interactive announced that it had started development on Project 007, and though details on the James Bond title have been next to nonexistent since then, it seems like the company is edging closer to finally speaking about the title, with development apparently coming along well.

That’s as per IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak, who said in an interview with IGN that though the studio is still not quite ready to talk about Project 007 just yet, development on the game is nonetheless going “amazingly well”, before assuring that more information will be shared “soon”- though he did not elaborate on exactly how soon “soon” will be.

“I don’t have an update today, but believe me, it’s itching here as well to be talking about it soon,” he said. “So we are following our plans. The production’s going amazingly well and we will soon be talking more about it. I know it was a little teaser, not a lot of information, but there’s a lot of cool stuff coming up. We are also very excited and when we are ready with that, we’ll be opening up.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Abrak reiterated several tidbits that IO Interactive has shared on Project 007 over the las handful of years, talking about how the studio is looking to create “a Bond for gaming” with a new origin story– which, interestingly enough, could be the start of a new trilogy.

Last year, Abrak described Project 007 as “the ultimate spycraft fantasy”, and stated that it would be “a more scripted experience” compared to the sandbox gameplay of the Hitman series.

Job listings have suggested that the game could feature sandbox storytelling similar to the Hitman series, and that it will feature a mixture of first- and third-person gameplay.
