Venusaur, Blastoise and Charizard will mark the feature's debut
- Gigantamax Raids are coming to Pokemon Go
- These difficult battles cannot be completed alone, meaning teamwork is essential
- Venusaur, Blastoise and Charizard will be the first Gigantamax Pokemon
Not too long ago, Niantic introduced Dynamax Raids to Pokemon Go, allowing you to battle skyscraper-sized versions of a select few Pokemon alongside scaling up some of your own. Now, on October 26th, the stakes will literally get higher as Gigantamax Raids are on their way.
If you're familiar with the main series, you'll know that Gigantamaxing not only sees Pokemon grow larger but also changes their appearance and grants them powerful GMAX attacks. They're tough cookies, so it's no surprise that bringing them down won't be easy in a smaller group and impossible to do alone. In fact, there's the potential to tackle them with up to 40 people, although that isn't required to win.
Much like the Dynamax pool, the Gigantamax Raids will only have certain Pokemon for now. Fittingly, Venusaur, Blastoise and Charizard will mark the feature's debut, each with a devastating GMAX attack at their disposal. Great rewards are promised for bringing them down. Hopefully, they're more impressive than the current offering for besting a Dynamax Raid.
To commemorate the occasion, Niantic has teamed up with Emmy Award-winning composer Ramin Djawadi to create the soundtrack for the feature's release trailer, which you can check out below. Given that Djawadi worked on Game of Thrones, he's used to scoring epic battles on a grand scale, so it's a great choice.
Discussing his involvement, he said: “Gigantamax is larger than life and the perfect opportunity to compose this epic theme for the Pokémon Go trailer.”
“We endeavoured to create a theme that parallels the hero’s journey. As tensions rise in the shadows of these gargantuan Pokémon, players come together for an unforgettable experience as they overcome the impossible.”
Pokemon Go is available on the App Store and Google Play as a free-to-play game with in-app purchases. You can download it for your preferred platform using the links below.
