Four-time Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan wants to be in a big Hollywood action movie after a long career in smaller projects, but she has no interest in making a Marvel film.

Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ronan began by addressing a rumor that she was offered the role of Yelena in Black Widow. As you can see in the video below, she dances around the question and doesn't give a definitive answer. Florence Pugh ultimately played that part and is coming back to reprise the character in 2025's Thunderbolts.

Regarding her own potential Marvel career, Ronan said, "I can't see myself doing Marvel. There is nothing wrong with [Marvel], and I think they are brilliant films."

She does, however, have hopes to land a role in a "big" movie, like James Bond. "I would prefer to do Bond," she said. "I want to do more big movies, especially after seeing Greta Gerwig make Barbie. I want to do that. Of course I want to do that stuff."

Before this, Ronan talked about how a dream role for her would be to be a Bond villain.

Ronan came close to starring in a major franchise, as she was in the running to play Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series. She said her audition was the "coolest thing ever" but ultimately didn't land the role in part because she was too young.

Ronan earned Academy Award nominations for Atonement, Brooklyn, Lady Bird, and Little Women. Her latest film is The Outrun, and it premiered at the end of September.
