What is the Minecraft Bundles of Bravery update? The next Minecraft update is coming to the vanilla game, and features a new feature for Bedrock players alongside a long-awaited new storage item. Another larger update then follows shortly afterwards, bringing a creepy new biome and mob to Minecraft.
Annual Minecraft updates have been announced during the Minecraft Live livestream for the last few years, but Mojang recently announced that there will now be more regular, smaller updates spread throughout the year, and the Minecraft Bundles of Bravery update is the next one of those. Here’s everything coming to the sandbox game in the next Minecraft update and beyond.
Bundles of Bravery release date window
The Minecraft Bundles of Bravery update release date is coming within a “few months” of the Minecraft Live October stream, so hopefully before the end of 2024. This comes after the announcement that updates will be more regular, and that there will be two Minecraft Live shows a year.
The announcement was made on September 28, 2024, and the next two Minecraft ‘drops’, or these new smaller updates, are supposedly arriving “in the next few months”, suggesting we could be getting a new release roughly every three months. If there are to be multiple updates a year, and we consider the usual Summer release of previous updates, it would be feasibly for releases to drop in approximately October, January, April, and July, though this is just our estimation.
As ever, these vanilla features are likely to drop in Minecraft snapshots first so that players can try them out and test them for bugs, but bundles have been available in experimental features for a while now.
Bundle of Bravery update details
Bundles
Bundles were first announced as part of the Caves and Cliffs update but were one of the few features that were later scrapped. Earlier in 2024, bundles came back, added via experimental features, and will be in the vanilla game soon.
Bundles are crafted with rabbit hide and string, which gives a new purpose to the cute bouncy pets. Until now, there has not really been a unique use for rabbit drops – which is no bad thing, we don’t enjoy killing bunnies – but now you are going to have to address that if you want a bundle or two.
These bags are a middle ground between chests and shulker boxes, increasing your inventory space for when you’re out adventuring. We’ve all been out and about when we’ve found our storage suddenly full, so bundles are essential for travelling around the overworld. Each one can hold up to 64 items.
Hardcore mode
Hardcore mode is coming to Bedrock edition for the first time with the Bundle of Bravery. This challenging mode is a perma-death version of Minecraft, meaning that you have to be extra careful when roaming around at night or digging through the caves.
Hardcore mode is great for Minecraft veterans who might find it easy to live after 15 years in of playing the survival game, reigniting that feeling of fear you feel in your first-ever night in Minecraft.
Minecraft The Pale Garden update
Thanks to another announcement during Minecraft Live 2024, we also know about the second new update coming “in the new few months”. This one is a much larger update, more like the usual Summer updates, including a new biome, a new Minecraft mob, and new blocks.
The Pale Garden
Quiet during the day, this spooky and eerie new biome turns more terrifying after dark. This is the first dynamic Minecraft biome so far, as hanging vines turn into a more tangled hanging moss, visibility levels and sounds change, and the overall appearance of the overworld changes when you are in The Pale Garden.
The Creaking
The Creaking is the new mob that creeps up on you after dark in The Pale Garden. The Creaking is a wooden, tree-ent-like creature that’s a little more tough to defeat than the Minecraft mobs you’re used to.
This mob takes no normal damage, so hit it all you like, but it won’t do much. Instead, you need to seek out its heart in a nearby tree. Thankfully, that’s not too hard when you do hit the creature, as it directs you towards it’s heart – seems a bit self-destructive to us.
This kind of adorable Minecraft mob comes after you when you aren’t looking at it, so be careful when you look away to destroy the Creaking Heart – or when you’re running away in fear.
The Creaking Heart
The Creaking Heart is a new block which can be picked up with a silk touch tool and kills The Creaking when broken. When picked up with Silk Touch, you can place the heart down elsewhere to bring the creepy aura of The Pale Garden to a new location.
If you want to spawn a new Creaking, place its heart between two pale Oak blocks and wait for darkness to fall, and your new friend appears.
New blocks and more
The Pale Oak is yet another new wood type – but you can never have too much wood in the building game. This is a white oak, so is going to make an amazing new set of building blocks.
There is also a new set of moss with a toned down palette to the more vibrant moss we already know. This moss looks more grey and slightly dead as it appears in the Pale Garden after dark.
With that, you’re ready to jump into the new Minecraft update schedule, and test your own Bundles of Bravery. Ready yourself for the survival game‘s hardcore mode with the best armor and weapons, and gather some Minecraft diamond and Netherite to kit yourself out.
