Microsoft has been exploring the possibility of designing an Xbox controller with a touchscreen for accessing various features.
According to GameRant, a recent Xbox patent describes a controller that could save a player’s custom loadouts, which could then be accessed via its built-in touchscreen.
As shown in the image below, the touchscreen could also be used to track and display a player’s in-game performance, and to access social media features.

The image suggests the touchscreen might also be used to access audio settings and display the controller’s charge level.
The patent reportedly mentions compatibility with external devices like mobile phones via an app too.
Microsoft launched its latest Xbox wireless controller colour, Velocity Green, earlier this month.
And on Tuesday the company revealed two new colours for its range of Xbox Elite Series 2 wireless controllers.
Vibrant Red and Blue versions of the controller are now available to pre-order for $139.99 / £124.99, ahead of their launch on April 11.
Like the white model released last September, the new colours are being sold under the full name ‘Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core’.
These products are similar to the original black Elite Series 2 controller but come with fewer accessories and so are cheaper to buy.
