Where to find cold resistance armor in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features a Hyrule that’s even more expansive than the version encountered in Breath of the Wild. However, many of the overworld locations are familiar. They include towering mountains where the cold gets to you in a hurry if you don’t have something warm to wear. Here is our guide telling you where to find Cold Resistance armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – where to find cold resistance armor

From very nearly the start of the game, you will sometimes encounter cold regions that inflict damage if you stay within them for long. Early on, you can counter this effect by cooking yourself dishes using Spicy Pepper as an ingredient. Cook five of them at once and produce Spicy Sauteed Peppers that offer more than 12 minutes of Cold Resistance.

However, there’s a better way to meet your long-term needs. You can find armor with Cold Resistance baked right into it. To find Cold Resistance armor, head to Rito Village. The village is located south of Hebra Mountain and north of Tabantha Frontier.

Rito Village exists within a very cold region. See its location in the above map screenshot. As the game begins, the village is experiencing a prolonged blizzard. To approach, you need Cold Resistance provided by food or elixirs. Although you might reach your destination from a number of directions, I approached by ascending the hills northeast of the Lucky Clover Gazette and then using my paraglider to drift over to the island where the village stands.

Once you arrive at Rito Village, ascend along the wooden platforms to reach the General Store. At that shop, you can purchase the Snowquill armor set. The Snowquill Headdress costs 650 rupees, the Snowquill Tunic costs 500 rupees, and the Snowquill Trousers cost 1000 rupees. When two or more pieces are equipped, the armor set provides strong Cold Resistance. And when the whole set is equipped and sufficiently upgraded by a Great Fairy, it makes you impervious to ice-based attacks. You can then endure anything except a dip in a freezing river. I highly recommend acquiring it as soon as you can afford it. I have worn it more than any other armor during my time with the game.
