Format

Group Stage

  • Out of the 12 qualified teams, the eight low-seed ones will compete in the group stage.

  • These eight teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each.

  • Both groups will follow a double-elimination format where every match will be a best-of-three series.

  • The top two teams from each group will qualify for the playoffs.

Playoffs

  • The four qualifying teams will join the four top-seed participants in the playoffs.

  • This stage will follow a double-elimination format where every match will be a best-of-three series except for the lower bracket final and grand final, both of them featuring a best-of-five match.

  • The last team standing will be declared as the champion of the VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo.

Prizepool

This tournament features the maximum prize money ever for a Masters-level event, setting a record with a pool of $1,000,000 USD. This will be split between all the competing teams as per their overall placement.

Livestream

The tournament will be broadcasted live across both Twitch and YouTube in English via the primary stream with other co-streams being run in multiple languages by various gaming creators and streamers.

All matches of the VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo will take place in front of a live audience. The majority of them will be held at the Tipstar Dome Chiba which is an indoor stadium with a seating capacity of about 2,000 spectators.
