Team Aster won its fifth series in a row in the DPC China 2023 Tour 3: Division I, defeating Xtreme Gaming 2-1 and qualified for the Bali Major 2023.

After losing game one, Aster came back strong courtesy of Sumail's outstanding performance in games two and three on Storm Spirit.

As a full-time member of a team, this is SumaiL’s first qualification for a Dota 2 Major in four years.

Despite his limited Chinese language skills, the recruitment of Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan ahead of Tour 3 of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2023 has proven to be an incredibly impactful addition to Team Aster. After defeating Xtreme Gaming 2-1, Team Aster has won its fifth series in a row in the DPC China 2023 Tour 3: Division I and qualified for the Bali Major 2023. After suffering its first setback in the tournament as it lost game one to Xtreme, Aster came back with all guns blazing. SumaiL's performance on his iconic Storm Spirit was a spectacle to behold in both the second and third games, even though the hero had been picked up early in the drafting phase. As a full-time member of a team, this is SumaiL’s first qualification for a Dota 2 Major in four years.

SumaiL’s godly Storm Spirit performance against Xtreme Gaming leads Team Aster to Bali Major 2023

Aster was one game away from its first series defeat of the season after being outplayed in the first game by Xtreme, notably owing to a lack of stuns and tank. However, the setback only strengthened the team's resolve, as Xtreme had little chance in the next two games.

SumaiL, who was playing Storm Spirit and was supported by Keeper of the Light in the second and Io in the third game, was a nightmare to play against. He won his lanes against Zhang "Paparazi" Chengjun and was assisted by support rotations shortly after the laning phase, laying the groundwork for a solid game.

SumaiL ended up toying with Xtreme on Storm, finishing the two games with KDAs of 19-1-8 and 18-1-17. The performance was a highlight of the season, with SumaiL and the other members of the team demonstrating excellent individual and collaborative abilities despite language obstacles.

As Aster prepares to compete in its last two series and then the Bali Major, communication and teamwork are anticipated to improve as SumaiL is learning the necessary Chinese phrases.

Meanwhile, SumaiL, for one, will be particularly happy with Aster's success following a difficult previous season with Nigma Galaxy. While he did participate for Team Liquid as a stand-in at the WePlay AniMajor in 2021 and the Berlin Major 2023 with Team Aster, this will be his first Dota 2 Major as a full-fledged member since the Epicentre 2019 with Evil Geniuses.

Before heading to Bali, Aster will be looking to overcome PSG.LGD, another undefeated team in the region that has already qualified for the Major. The series between the two Chinese powerhouses takes place on 4th June, 2023.
