Resident Evil 4 remake: How to get and equip new attaché cases

1 year ago 135

The attaché case is arguably Resident Evil 4‘s most iconic element. Most of us have probably spent at least an hour agonizing over the organization of the case. Only to then do it in another 20 minutes once again. But for the Resident Evil 4 remake, the attaché cases have had a bit of an upgrade. Leon can equip new attaché cases this time, and each one has its own small perks. So here’s the rundown on the Resident Evil 4 remake’s new attaché cases.

Resident Evil 4 remake: How to find new attaché cases

There are five attaché cases in the Resident Evil 4 remake. Unfortunately, one of them is locked to the game’s deluxe edition, and the other is a pre-order bonus. So if you don’t have either of those, then you can only get three. Don’t be too disappointed by that, though. The attaché cases available to unlock in the base game are all very useful in their own right.

Thankfully the way to get new attaché cases in Resident Evil 4 is pretty simple. The Merchant will offer to trade them for Spinels at two different points in the game. But the one Leon starts with is the silver attaché case. This comes with an effect that increases the drop rate of Handgun ammo. Then, in Chapter 4, the Merchant will offer the black attaché case for 8 Spinels. The black case increases the drop rate of large Resources. Finally, there’s the leather attaché case in Chapter 8 that costs 12 Spinels. This one increases the drop rate for Red Herbs.

The gold attaché comes with the deluxe edition of the Resident Evil 4 remake. And it increases the drop rate for Pesetas. But since Resident Evil 4 gives you so many ways to earn money, this doesn’t seem like a big deal. However, the classic attaché case is actually pretty useful. It increases the drop rate for Gunpowder, which is an essential item for restocking your ammo reserves. For now, it’s exclusive to those that pre-ordered the game. But Capcom eventually released similar DLC exclusives for previous Resident Evil titles to everyone. So this one may eventually be available for purchase on its own.

How to equip new attaché cases

Once you’ve got a new attaché case, head over to a typewriter. The Merchant’s store usually has a typewriter very close by. From here, you can not only save your game but also access storage and customize the attaché case. This includes swapping out the attaché case for other options, as well as equipping Charms that give you different perks. You can swap all of these around without any worry, as your inventory won’t be affected at all. Tinkering with the attaché is something you’ll probably do often in Resident Evil 4.
