Octopath Traveler 2 – How to complete Procuring Peculiar Tomes side story

In Octopath Traveler 2, players can complete a variety of side stories. Those looking to make the most out of the game and see as much of its world as possible will want to complete all of them. This is our guide on how to complete the ‘Procuring Peculiar Tomes’ side story in Octopath Traveler 2.

How to complete Procuring Peculiar Tomes in Octopath Traveler 2

You can begin Procuring Peculiar Tomes by speaking to the Unusual Tome Specialist in Montwise: Library. She can be found in the top left corner of the floor you start on looking at a bookcase next to a pair of stairs. Speaking to her will reveal that she wants you to find three rare books: Dispatches from Beastling Island, The Curious Legend of the Great Wall, and From the Far Reaches of Hell.

Finding the three peculiar tomes

Starting out with Dispatches from Beastling Island, head to the Beasting Village on Toto’haha. In between the human village and the Beasting Village, you’ll find a Foreign Traveler who speaks highly of their ancestor’s work. Use Partitio’s Purchase Path Action to buy the book from the traveler.

The next book to find in Procuring Peculiar Tomes is The Curious Legend of the Great Wall. Go to Stormhail and head directly south to reach Southern Stormhail Snows. Continue south and then west up the stairs and follow the path around until you reach the southern entrance to Southern Stormhail Snows. An Archeologist will be looking over the cliff to the east. As before, use Partitio’s Purchase Path Action to buy the book from the Archeologist.

The final book to track down for Procuring Peculiar Tomes is From the Far Reaches of Hell. For this book, go to Crackridge and head all the way east to the ramps next to Tera’s lair. Don’t go down the ladder to Tera’s lair and instead follow the path on the far right that leads to a different ladder. A Scholar with 15,441 HP who is weak to Sword, Axe, and Wind will be guarding the door. Defeat the Scholar using either Hikari’s Challenge or Ochette’s Provoke Path Action. After defeating him, go inside and loot the chest to find the final book.

Returning the peculiar tomes

Make your way back to the Unusual Tome Specialist in Montwise. Upon speaking to her a prompt will appear allowing you to hand over all three books. After handing the books over, a cutscene will play and once this cutscene ends you’ll have finished Procuring Peculiar Tomes in Octopath Traveler 2. The reward for completing this side story is 6,500 Leaves, x1 Librarian’s Amulet, and x1 Refreshing Jam.
