Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the Nintendo Gamecube title originally released in 2005. With versions available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, it launched on 24th March 2023. Remaining faithful to the original title, it also expanded on what fans already know and love with new content, story, and lore. In our Resident Evil 4 PS5 review, we awarded the game a rare 10/10 and called it an "utterly outstanding experience that will live long in the hearts of longtime fans".

In this Resident Evil 4 Remake guide, we're going to provide a full walkthrough of all Chapters, cover Puzzle Solutions, and offer aid with every Blue Request Note. In addition, we'll reveal the locations of all Collectibles and offer Help. We'll also provide a selection of Tips and Tricks for Beginners.

While we have tried our best to keep them to a minimum on this page, please note you may encounter Resident Evil 4 Remake spoilers in this guide. Please browse with some caution. Furthermore, this guide is based on the PS5 version. However, since the game won't differ on other platforms, the information will apply across every edition.

For the final section of our Resident Evil 4 Remake guide, we will share some tips and tricks for beginners that will help you play the game better and get more out of it. Below you will find a selection of tips and recommendations to help you find your feet in the strange European village.

Use Melee Attacks as Much as Possible

While Resident Evil 4 is a more action-focused game than past entries, you'll still want to be saving ammunition to some degree. This is where Leon's melee attacks come into play. If you can stagger an enemy, an indicator will appear next to them, highlighting that you can run up to them and perform a melee attack. The easiest of these to perform is to shoot an enemy in the head enough times, and then follow those bullets up with a kick to the face. This saves ammo and also looks pretty darn cool.

Get the Bolt Thrower for Early Encounters

Available to buy from the Merchant in Chapter 2, the Bolt Thrower isn't particularly powerful. However, it does have one very good perk: it shoots bolts that you can pick out of enemies once they're dead. In the early game, where bullets are at a bit of a premium, these bolts are incredibly valuable. As long as your shots do land on an enemy, you can simply take them out of their dead bodies after the fight and have never lost any ammo. You can then upgrade the bolts and attach a mine onto the end of them, providing a satisfying explosion.

Upgrade Your Combat Knife

Unlike the original game, you can only use the Combat Knife so much until it breaks. You can get it repaired at the Merchant, but you'll want to focus some of your Pesetas on upgrading the Combat Knife's durability. Since parries are a lot more important in this remake, you'll want to be able to perform without the worry of your Combat Knife breaking. Also, enemies are able to grab you, and stabbing them is one option for escaping their grasp. Making your Combat Knife more durable ensures you can use it more often.

Yellow Paint Marks the Spot

If you're ever unsure where to go next or what you can interact with, one helpful indicator is the yellow paint. Capcom has placed it on objects you can either break or use to get somewhere else — for example, places to give Ashley a boost or squeeze through the wall. In combination with the Map, there should always be a visual indicator nearby to help you make some progress.

Buy Treasure Maps

On offer at the Merchant in exchange for Spinels, you can buy Treasure Maps to mark every Treasure in the area you're in on the Map. This applies to the Village, Castle, and the Island. Buying one of these makes it much easier to discover Treasures, which can then be sold to the Merchant.
