Dead Cells Hits 10 Million Copies Sold, With More DLC Planned Through To 2025

Dead Cells is perhaps one of the most popular 2D rogue-lites today, which comes as no surprise as it’s also one of the best the industry has ever seen.

Since it launched in 2017, developers Motion Twin and Evil Empire announced that Dead Cells has now collectively sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, and incredible feat for an indie title.

Getting to 10 million copies is a massive landmark, but it doesn’t at all mean that the world of Dead Cells will be slowing down anytime soon. According to a press release announcing the new milestone, Evil Empire has already been working on new expansions to come all the way through to 2025.

Evil Empire is a studio made up of former Motion Twin developers, who’ve taken over live operations of Dead Cells since 2019, and have been working on expansions and updates for the game in collaboration with Motion Twin since.

The last Dead Cells expansion was one of the game’s most popular, as Dead Cells paid tribute to one of its influences with the Return To Castlevania expansion, bridging the worlds of Dead Cells and Konami’s famous Castlevania.
