Best Warzone 2 AR for Season 2 Reloaded

1 year ago 179

Looking for the best Warzone 2 AR? Competitive players typically use the best assault rifles as these weapons are highly versatile. Depending on which assault rifle you opt for, you can easily cover close, medium, and even long-range without breaking a sweat.

These weapons are usually a nailed-on starter in most of the best Warzone 2 loadout drops, often being paired alongside the best Warzone 2 SMG or best Warzone 2 sniper to create a well-rounded build for use in the free PC game. As long as you use our loadouts to keep the recoil down on some of the stronger ARs, you should have no issues using these weapons.

Currently, the best Warzone 2 assault rifle is the Kastov 762. The AK found its feet late into Warzone 1’s life cycle, but it was far from the best pick when the FPS game first launched. What makes the Kastov 762 so great in Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded is its ability to deliver high damage at longer ranges than any of its peers – both new and experienced players won’t have any problems using this gun as it has predictable recoil.

The best Warzone 2 AR

  • Kastov 762
  • M4
  • Kastov-74u
  • STB 556
  • Chimera
  • TAQ-56
  • M13B
  • Kastov 545
  • Lachmann-556
  • M16

 Kastov 762 without any attachments

Kastov 762

This hard-hitting Warzone 2 AR carries its damage a lot further than any other assault rifle in the game, and it has the least damage variation between close and medium range too. That can make it a slightly weaker option up close, but it fulfils the brief of assault rifles being versatile perfectly.

The Kastov 762’s high damage and range come at the cost of heavy kickback, especially when firing from range. Our best Warzone 2 Kastov 762 loadout fixes the assault rifle’s biggest problem by picking attachments that drastically improve its recoil control. We’ve even managed to upgrade the Kastov 762’s bullet velocity and damage range to make the gun even more effective at long range.

 M4 without any attachments

M4

As the default assault rifle in Warzone 2, you can expect a lot of players to gravitate to this weapon right away. The stock M4 is surprisingly effective without attachments, but you can take it to another level using the right loadout. Our best Warzone 2 M4 loadout improves the assault rifle’s damage range and bullet velocity to make it a threat from a distance.

The M4’s theoretical time-to-kill stats aren’t too impressive, but as it’s so stable when firing full-auto you’re not going to have any issues landing all of your shots. So, realistically, the M4 is probably one of the best ARs in the game.

 Kastov-74u without any attachments

Kastov-74u

The Kastov-74u is the perfect example of a versatile assault rifle. Though the core of the Kastov-74u is built using the body of an AK-47, it controls like a lightweight SMG. With a little bit of tinkering, the best Warzone 2 Kastov-74u gives you the mobility of an SMG with the power of an assault rifle. Use this weapon in close-range loadouts to eliminate any nearby flankers, while freeing you up to pick a stronger long-range option as a secondary.

The key weakness of the Kastov-74u is that its damage range drops off very sharply at around 50 metres, so at that point you’re unlikely to win any engagements. Building around the damage range won’t save you, so our advice is to focus on enhancing the 74u’s mobility and handling.

 STB 556 without any attachments

STB 556

Another SMG-like assault rifle, the STB 556 absolutely shreds enemies up close and does well up to mid-range, all without too much recoil. Usually, SMGs that feature quick time-to-kill speeds have control issues due to the rapid rate of fire, but this gun avoids this entirely as its damage output is so high you only need the first few rounds.

Just watch out for when your target strays beyond 50 metres or so, as the damage dropoff from this point is very steep and you’re very unlikely to emerge victorious. Check out our best Warzone 2 STB 556 loadout.

a Chimera assault rifle sits in a cushioned gun case

Chimera

Introduced in Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded, the Chimera is the first AR to feature a built-in suppressor and subsonic ammunition by default. This frees up two attachment slots when building the best Warzone 2 Chimera loadout, giving you the flexibility to improve the AR’s weaker areas.

Because the Chimera’s damage range and fire rate are so good, we can focus on improving the weapon’s recoil control to ensure we can land all of our shots. Most importantly, we’ve gone for the 45-Round mag to ensure you have plenty of bullets to take down multiple enemies on Al Mazrah.

 TAQ-56 without any attachments

TAQ-56

The TAQ-56, also known as the SCAR, is one of the hardest-hitting assault rifles in Warzone 2. At close to mid-range, the TAQ-56 can cut down enemies in an instant using just a few bullets, but it struggles as you near long-range due to its lower fire rate and trickier recoil.

Check out our best Warzone 2 TAQ-56 loadout to increase the weapon’s ranged effectiveness and handling so it’s easier to use from a distance.

 M13B without any attachments

M13B

The M13B has a lot in common with the M4, but with more recoil, slightly less damage, and worse performance over long distances. Up close, however, it’s one of the best options in the AR category, boasting the highest rate of fire and handling rating for its weapon class. This makes it extremely for up close and mid-range battles, but quite poor for anything more distance. Check out our best Warzone 2 M13B loadout for the full build.

 Kastov 454 without any attachments

Kastov 545

The AK with slightly smaller rounds, the Kastov 545 predictably delivers much less power with each bullet. Up close, it’s quite a pitiful AR, with mediocre handling, damage, and firing rate, but it doesn’t suffer from very much damage dropoff at all, which makes it surprisingly effective for when you start approaching longshot territory. If you plan on pairing it with a decent CQC weapon like the best Warzone 2 Bryson 890 loadout then it’s a great mid-range pick. Check out our best Warzone 2 Kastov 545 loadout for a full setup.

 Lachmann-556 without any attachments

Lachmann-556

The Lachmann-556 is thoroughly average across the board, and while that means it’s not truly terrible, there’s very little reason to bring it along to Al Mazrah. Our best Warzone 2 Lachmann-556 loadout rescues it, but there are stronger options.

 M16 without any attachments

M16

If theoretical time-to-kill stats counted for anything, the M16 would be much higher up this list, but as we’re imperfect it finds itself ranked lowest in our AR tier list. The burst-fire mode is simply far too inaccurate over medium and long distances to be effective, while up close the performance is even worse, despite some decent damage and fire rate stats.

If you’re happy to switch to single-fire then you will see an immediate improvement in the M16, but at this point, you’re better off checking out a battle rifle. We do have a build that works, so do check out our best Warzone 2 M16 loadout for the best attachments.

Now that you know exactly what the best Warzone 2 assault rifles are, it’s time to head to the battlefield to collect some wins. We also have a list of the best Warzone 2 guns if you want to see what other weapons are worth using in the battle royale game in Season 2.
