A new PS5 console update has rolled out, and in addition to the usual system performance and stability updates, you can also expect the Activities hub to have a more informative design. Update version 24.07-10.20.00 will change how activities are displayed, depending on whether you have started an activity or completed it. In Progress, Not Started, or Completed are the new titles being used here, and the software update will also hide potential spoilers.

Here are the full--and brief--patch notes from Sony:

PS5 Version 24.07-10.20.00 Update

  • Activities now display as In Progress, Not Started, or Completed, depending on whether you have ever started or completed the activity.
  • Potential spoilers will still be hidden.
  • We've improved system software performance and stability.
  • We've improved the messages and usability on some screens.

The new update comes just a few weeks before the PS5 Pro launches. The upgraded PS5 will be available starting November 7 and is priced at $700, and ahead of its arrival, several games have received updates to prepare for its launch. The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2 got PS5 Pro patches this week, and Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy Entertainment revealed more details on the PS5 Pro update for the survival-horror game.

Alan Wake 2 will still have Quality and Performance modes for players to choose between, but these offer substantial improvements when compared to the base PS5 version of the game.

On Quality mode, the game runs at 30fps but it includes ray-tracing features and a native 4K resolution that has been upscaled from a render resolution of 2176 x 1224. In comparison, the Performance mode features a higher output resolution--upscaled from 1536 x 864--and has more visual detail compared to the base PS5 version.
