Harry Potter finally received the Monopoly treatment earlier this year, and as part of Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale, you can get the Wizarding World-themed edition of the classic board game for 25% off. Monopoly Harry Potter Edition is discounted to $30 for Prime members. If you want to watch the films while you play, Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection on Blu-ray is only $24.49 at Amazon.
Like other Monopoly reskins, this version retains the core rules and gameplay of the original board game but has been remixed with characters, locations, and art from the Harry Potter series. The player pieces are now the Hogwarts Express, double-decker Knight Bus, Firebolt broomstick, Hagrid's motorcycle, Hippogriff, and Thestral.
Paper money is replaced with points earned for the Hogwarts house the players are sorted into at the start of the game. From there, it plays out like your usual Monopoly session, with players staking claim to locations like the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch, Dumbledore's office, and the Hogsmeade Station.
If you want to watch the films while you play, Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection on Blu-ray is only $24.49 at Amazon. You can also grab the complete paperback box set of all seven Harry Potter books for $53 (was $100). This book box set is eligible for Amazon's B2G1 free sale sale.
While Harry Potter remains a popular franchise, the hateful, anti-trans views of its creator and author of the original novels, JK Rowling, have tarnished the series in recent years. Rowling is not directly involved with the creation of Monopoly: Harry Potter Edition or these other board games, but she financially benefits from merchandise sales. Our article on how Rowling's comments have impacted the trans community offers more information on her history of anti-trans bigotry. You will also find links to trans creators we encourage you to support, as well as helpful resources and charitable organizations you can donate to.
