Disney Dreamlight Valley is full of woe during Joy’s Mood Swings quest. Despite Joy being all about happiness and energy, her recent Capture the Sun game has inadvertently led to some villagers feeling gloomy and exhausted. Let’s check up on everyone and see what’s causing this.
Starting the Mood Swings quest
Starting the Mood Swings quest requires reaching level four friendship with Joy and completing Sadness’ Storm’s A-Brewin! mission. Upon reaching these requirements, you’ll be able to talk to Joy, who’ll tell you about Donald, Goofy, Merlin, and Vanellope’s recently developed sadness.

Break some of Donald’s furniture
After a brief chat with Joy and Sadness about your findings, you’ll all decide to help Donald Duck first. Enter his house and tell him about your current plan—destroying his furniture. More specifically, you’ll break his couch, table, and bookshelf in an attempt to release some of his bottled-up emotions.

Unfortunately, destroying everything doesn’t make him feel better. You and Joy decide to help Merlin next in hopes that your next plan will bear some fruit.
Help Merlin by cleaning the Dreamlight Library
Our next objective is to help Merlin feel happier. After entering his Dreamlight Library home, you’ll quickly notice that it’s a disaster, with potions all over the floor and spiderwebs scattered around. We’ll need to clear away everything before talking to him.

Similarly, you’ll find the spiderwebs in relatively open areas, with two on the right side of the room and one behind Merlin’s desk. You won’t need any of your Royal tools to clear everything, but you will need to return the potions to the book pile next to the library’s entrance.
