MGS3 Remake Dev Rumoured To Be Working On An Oblivion Remaster In Unreal Engine 5

A new discovery on job-seeking platform LinkedIn has lent even more weight to existing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remaster rumours. This time around, an art director at support studio Virtuos has updated their profile to say that they're working on "an unannounced UE5 PS5/XSX/PC remake", which is suspected to be a new version of Bethesda RPG Oblivion.

These rumours first started in the summer of 2023, when a schedule for upcoming Bethesda titles leaked showing plans for an Oblivion remaster. Although this was seemingly delayed from the team's original schedule, rumours about the remaster / remake resurfaced just last month, hinting that the project is still in the works.

Those more recent rumours directly tied this particular support studio (Virtuos) to the project, and combined with today's LinkedIn discovery from the company's art director - well, it's looking more and more likely that Oblivion is indeed this mystery Virtuos "UE5 remake".

Fancy a bit more context that feeds into all of this speculation? Well, more than three years ago, a very similar rumour tied Virtuos to the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake — including a LinkedIn post at the time — a project that was confirmed by Konami years after the fact. This new version of Oblivion is yet to be announced by Microsoft & Bethesda (and we don't know if it'll be a full remake or a remaster), but its existence is looking more and more likely by the day.
