Now that we’ve all had a couple of days to find our main in Marvel Rivals, it’s time to get serious. Quick play is no longer your main option as NetEase Games has officially opened the gates to competitive, meaning you can now climb the ranks in the hope of becoming the best of the best. It’s not all bragging rights, though, as there’s an exclusive skin you can earn by going up the ranked ladder too. Just make sure you’ve got some good teammates by your side.
If you want to get into the Marvel Rivals ranked competitive mode, there are a few things you need to know beforehand. Firstly, you need to get to rank ten, which you can easily do just by playing quick matches as your favorite hero. I’d also recommend you jump in as a hero you’re good at (for obvious reasons) and line up any team-ups you can if you’re not playing alone.
My friends and I are diving in as Rocket Racoon, Punisher, and The Winter Solider, for example, because Rocket can use an ability that gives the other two infinite ammo and an increased fire rate. This is a competitive multiplayer game after all, so you don’t want to dive into ranked if you don’t know all the maps or enough Marvel Rivals characters to get by.
When you do jump into the competitive game mode, there are some stellar rewards on offer. If you finish the season having got to gold rank at any point you’ll unlock the Golden Moonlight Moon Knight skin. The second I saw this I knew I needed it, with Moon Knight’s signature white outfit traded out for slick black and gold. You’ve got until Friday January 10 to get to gold rank, which is only the third lowest, so I’m sure anyone can muster it.
It’s not just a new Moon Knight skin on offer, though, because if you do even better than gold rank you can prove your skill with multiple crests. These crests sit in the top right corner of your name card, with a silver one representing that you reached grandmaster rank, and a gold one showing that you’re in Season 0’s top 500 players.
As you dive into another match make sure you know about all the current and upcoming Marvel Rivals events, alongside any Marvel Rivals codes so you can get some free goodies.
