NetEase Games has maintained for a while that it has no current plans to release Marvel Rivals for the Nintendo Switch, but what about its successor? With the Switch 2 due out sometime later this year, questions about whether the hero shooter will release for the new console have been asked more than a few times. And for NetEase’s part, that’s very much on the cards.
Speaking recently with IGN, producer Weicong Wu revealed that NetEase Games is “already in contact with Nintendo”, and “open to” bringing Marvel Rivals to the Switch 2. Wu went on to explain that the Switch’s technical limitations prevented the game from releasing for Nintendo’s current platform, something that NetEase is hoping the Switch 2 will be able to avoid.
“We’re already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits,” Wu said. “And whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we’re open to that. The reason why we didn’t launch it onto the Switch, it was the first generation of that device they cannot provide a great experience for our gameplay. So if it could achieve that goal, we’re open to that.”
Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A Switch 2-focused Nintendo Direct is planned for April 2, where we’ll hopefully see Marvel Rivals among other titles being officially confirmed for the upcoming console.
