As you progress through Infinity Nikki and unlock more Outfit Sketches, the resources you need to gather become more mysterious. This is especially true in Chapter 2, when you receive your first Miracle Outfit Sketch, which calls for something called Bedrock Crystals.
Bedrock Crystals are a resource that cannot be discovered or farmed in the overworld of Miraland. Instead, you’ll need to go into another realm to gather this needed material. Here’s everything you need to know.
How to unlock the Realm of the Dark in Infinity Nikki
New Realm types unlock for access via a Warp Spire as you progress and reach certain parts of the main story in Infinity Nikki. The Realm of the Dark will unlock for access after you’ve completed the main story quest “Secret Ledger” in Chapter 2 and defeated Bouldy for the first time.
The Realm of the Dark allows you to take on boss-type Esselings you’ve previously encountered, with rewards up for grabs if you successfully defeat them.
How to defeat Bouldy in Infinity Nikki
Bouldy is a boss that will be faced once you’ve reached the secret cavern in “Secret Ledger.” It’s a big rock creature that will throw rocks at you and set off AOE attacks that need to be dodged. Bouldy cannot be damaged unless its core is exposed, displayed by a purple glow on its stomach.
When this happens, you’ll need to use your Purification ability to shoot off well-timed shots toward Bouldy’s stomach. As long as it’s purple, you can do one point of damage. When you get Bouldy down to zero, it will be defeated.
How to get Bedrock Crystals in Infinity Nikki
After defeating Bouldy, you’ll receive a message from Tokar on the Pear-Pal, telling you you’re ready to dive into the Realm of the Dark. After replying, head straight for your nearest Warp Spire and interact with it to open up the Realm Challenges menu, selecting “Realm of the Dark” on the left side.
There are five Bouldy challenges in the Realm of the Dark, and each will provide you with 400 Mira EXP, as well as a different type of Bedrock Crystal when completed:
Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Energy) | Bedrock Crystal: Energy |
Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Hurl) | Bedrock Crystal: Hurl |
Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Plummet) | Bedrock Crystal: Plummet |
Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Tumble) | Bedrock Crystal: Tumble |
Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Command) | Bedrock Crystal: Command |
Completing each challenge is much the same as the original encounter, albeit with some added mechanics to watch out for. Here’s each of the different mechanics that debut in each challenge:
- Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Energy)
- Utilizes laser attacks that must be avoided to avoid damage.
- Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Hurl)
- Very much piles on the rock-throwing mechanic, introducing triple boulder attacks and small AOEs that track you. Keep moving to avoid being hit.
- Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Plummet)
- Introduces a new expanding circular AOE. Jump over the purple glowing ring to avoid taking damage.
- Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Tumble)
- Bouldy will transform into a rock and roll across the arena towards you, keep dodging to avoid taking damage. If you can cause him to roll into the one of the walls surrounding the arena, Bouldy will be stunned and you can get some Purification shots in from close range.
- Phantom Trial: Bouldy (Command)
- The most AOE-centric of all the Bouldy challenges, with Bouldy throwing not only small AOEs at you but also large AOEs that will circle the arena and must be avoided.
- Bouldy will erect an impenetrable wall in the latter half of the fight. You’ll need to make your way around the back of the wall while avoiding the AOEs to ensure you can do damage to Bouldy when the core is exposed.
How to use Bedrock Crystals in Infinity Nikki
Each type of Bedrock Crystal is used to craft different Outfit Sketches. Pieces from the Miracle Outfit Sketch set that you get towards the end of Chapter 2 call for Bedrock Crystals: Command. The Raging Bouldy hoodie, the sketch you get for defeating Bouldy the first time, requires Bedrock Crystal: Energy.
It’s always worth checking what type of Bedrock Crystal you need before heading to the Realm of the Dark to make sure that you don’t end up with the wrong type, but they’re always handy to have in your arsenal so it’s not too much of a problem if you take part in the wrong challenge.
