How to complete the “A Zora Child’s Fate” side quest in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom

1 month ago 51

Once you’ve got through the Chaos at River Zora Village main story quest in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you’ll unlock a few side quests to complete in the area. One of these side quests is called “A Zora Child’s Fate”, and you’ll need to gather up some Echoes to complete it.

While most side quests in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom are fairly simple to complete, you’ll need to put your thinking cap on in order to get through “A Zora Child’s Fate”. In total, you’ll need to learn and summon three Echoes in front of the child’s mother in order to complete the quest.

The reward for completing “A Zora Child’s Fate” is a particularly useful one — the Zora Scale accessory. Equipping this accessory will extend Zelda’s diving time by giving her more breath, so it will be very useful moving forward.

To begin this quest, talk to the Zora child outside the houses in the upper left section of River Zora Village. If you warp to the River Zora Village waypoint, the house is directly behind you up the hill. The child tells you that their mom is acting strangely, and asks you to talk to her. She’s located in the house to the left of the one just behind the child, so she’s not too difficult to track down, and talking to her will give you the purpose of this quest — she wants to see some monsters.

There’s a pool right in front of her where you’ll need to summon your Echoes for her to look at, but she won’t tell you outright which monsters she wants to see. Instead, she’ll give you three vague descriptions.

A Sinister fish

The first monster the Zora’s Mom wants to see is a “sinister fish”. To complete this request, you’ll need to summon a Tangler Echo.

Tangler can be found in Lake Hylia, near where the Great Fairy Shrine is located. They’re easy enough to defeat using an Octorok summoned on land near where the Tanglers are swimming, or one which can float above the water, such as a Wizzrobe.

A monster that goes “boom”

The next request will be for a “monster that goes BOOM when anyone goes near it”. To complete this request, you’ll need to summon a Bombfish Echo in the pool of water in front of the Zora Mom.

At this point, you should already have the Bombfish Echo unlocked, as you will have found Bombfish swimming in the waters of Lord Jabu Jabu’s Den. They can be defeated using any Echo that has ranged attacks, such as Wizzrobe or Octorok.

A shocking jellyfish monster

The third and final request made by the Zora Mom is for a “shocking jellyfish monster”, which will require you to summon a Biri Echo to complete.

Again, at this point, you should already have unlocked the Biri Echo as they can be found in the waters of the Stilled Upper River, which you will have completed as part of the main story quest that unlocks this side quest. The best way to defeat a Biri is by aiming a Bombfish at it, which will take it out in one hit.

After completing this third and final request, a cutscene will trigger and you’ll complete the side quest to be rewarded with your very own Zora Scale. If you’ve not got any extra accessory slots in order to equip the Scale, it might be a good idea to pay the Great Fairy a visit in order to unlock an additional slot or two.
