The Slumber Dojo in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a rich source of ingredients and special rewards such as Heart Pieces and quest-related items. One of the challenges is called Caromadillo’s Revenge, and you’ll need some outside-the-box thinking to beat it.
The Slumber Dojo can be found in Kakariko Village, which can itself be found northwest of Hyrule Castle Town. It’s accessible right from the very start of a playthrough, but I’d recommend building up a strong stock of Echoes before you take on the challenges within.
Caromadillos are, as the name suggests, armadillo-like creatures who curl into a ball and repeatedly attack you by bouncing off of the walls like a three-year-old with a sugar rush. As such, this challenge could very quickly go south if they’re all taking aim at you, but there is a way to avoid taking any damage at all.
How to complete Caromadillo’s Revenge at the Slumber Dojo
Time limit: 70 seconds
Additional rules: No access to smoothies or potions.
Rewards:
- 5 Monster Fangs (clear within 70 seconds)
- + 3 Refreshing Grapes (clear within 45 seconds)
The best time to start this challenge is after finding the Caromadillo Lv. 2 Echo, which can be found inside Gerudo Sanctum. It’s stronger than the basic Caromadillos that are part of the challenge, allowing it to do more damage. On the plus side, you have access to Swordfighter Form for this challenge, so you can really get involved and do some damage.
The enemies you’ll face off against in Caromadillo’s Revenge are:
- 11 Caromadillos
- 1 Darknut
When you first enter this challenge, it can be tempting to open the gate by pressing the button to your right, but don’t do that. Instead, equip Caromadillo Lv. 2 as your active Echo and then stand directly in front of the gate. Summon as many Caromadillo Lv. 2s as you can, allowing them to take out all of the basic Caromadillos on the other side of the gate.
When this is done, or their numbers have at least been severely reduced, you can lower the gate and take aim at the Darknut. You can summon any Echo you’d like to help with this or enter into Swordfighter Form and take him out yourself. If there are any Caromadillos left, take them out too to complete the challenge and get your rewards.
