The fourth challenge at the Slumber Dojo in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom can seem particularly difficult at first glance, but it’s actually remarkably easy, and you don’t even need to learn any of the Echoes to succeed.
The Slumber Dojo can be found in Kakariko Village, southwest of Hyrule Castle Town. It’s a bountiful source of useful rewards, and as it’s available early in a playthrough, you can use those rewards to give yourself an early advantage.
Time limit: 1 minute and 5 seconds
Additional rules:
- Can only summon Echoes learned during the challenge
- No access to Smoothies or Potions
- No access to Swordfighter Form
Rewards:
- 5 Chilly Cactus (clear within 1 minute and 5 seconds)
- + 5 Warm Peppers (clear within 45 seconds)
As a Blank-Slate type challenge, you won’t have any access to your usual arsenal of Echoes going into this challenge. You can learn any echoes that are in the room, but you won’t need them to get through this.
The enemies you’re going to face in this challenge are:
- 7 Gibdo
The aim here is to take out all of these 7 Gibdo as quickly as possible. While it may be tempting to try and kill one of them to learn the Echo, there is an easier way. You just need to utilize the Bind ability.
First, pick up the Wind Cannon to your right and then use it to clear away the sand piles directly in front of you. Then, the way is clear to take on the Gibdo.
Bind on to each of the Gibdo in turn and then dump them down the hole in the middle of the room. This will kill them instantly, and you can quickly clear the room this way. Although this challenge was designed to be completed by utilizing the Wind Cannons to blow the Gibdo into the hole, binding onto the Gibdo themselves is a much easier and quicker method.
The only one that may cause some issues is the Gibdo in the top left of the room, which is protected by two small sand piles. Once the rest of the Gibdo are out of the way, pick up the Wind Cannon in the middle of the top wall, then use it to blow the sand piles away before throwing it in the opposite direction.
Then, using the same Bind ability method, pick up the final Gibdo and deposit it into the pit to complete this challenge. If you’ve completed all of the challenges so far in order, you’ll also be rewarded with a Milestone reward in the shape of the First Mastery accessory, which will slightly decrease the speed at which you consume energy while in Swordfighter Form.
