How do you defeat Pyramid Head in Silent Hill 2? A remake or a remaster is always a great way to bring a new playerbase to a classic game, while also bringing the experience back to existing fans. With the Silent Hill 2 remake, Bloober Team has catered to both audiences by keeping some classic moments faithful to the original and adding some fresh moments to keep returning players on their toes.
One somewhat faithful recreation from the original Silent Hill 2 is the first interactive encounter with the legendary Pyramid Head. This boss battle confused players the first time around due to the horror game enemy’s ability to one-hit kill you while you’re locked in a small space with him, seemingly unable to do any damage yourself. While the environment has changed somewhat since the old game, the concept hasn’t, so here’s how to beat Pyramid Head in Silent Hill 2.
The trick to beating Pyramid Head in the Silent Hill 2 remake, just like in the original, is to just avoid him. You do not need to attack the muscled monster as he leaves after a set period of time – you just need to stay alive.
You can attack Pyramid Head. While it won’t damage or kill him, it does reduce the timer and force him to leave earlier. It’s up to you whether you think that’s worth the risk of getting up close and personal with Red Pyramid Thing himself.
The best way to keep your distance from Pyramid Head during this scene is to use the obstacles in the room to your advantage. Eventually, the boss does break them all, but, in the meantime, getting behind them to get some distance is a great way to keep him at bay.
You are safe from the killer as soon as a siren blares as he will no longer attack – no matter how close you get. Before he walks out the room, this is a great chance to get a good look at the Pyramid Head remake model, something we talk about in our Silent Hill 2 remake review.
Now you know how to survive Pyramid Head in Silent Hill 2, you can stop putting yourself in harm’s way by trying to kill him. Once you let Pyramid Head leave, James can also escape Blue Creek apartments and the Otherworld – for now. There are more bosses and riddles standing between you and the truth in the puzzle game, though, so we’re here to help with guides to the Silent Hill 2 motel safe combination, the Brookhaven padlock combination, and more.
