The ever-changing Fortnite is again reinventing itself, this time as a Valorant-style 5v5 tactical first-person shooter. Best of all, Fortnite Ballistic is available this week, launching into early access on Wednesday, 11th December.
Epic Games marketing director Molly Dyer provided additional details on the PlayStation Blog. In round-based combat, players will be split between attackers and defenders. Attackers attempt to plant the Rift Point Device, which can be primed at two separate points on the map (defenders must prevent this).
There are no respawns, and the round ends if either one team is eliminated or if a Rift Point Device detonates. After six rounds, the roles are reversed, and the first team to achieve victory in seven total rounds is declared the winner. To spice things up, each player begins the round with a pistol and is given limited credits to purchase better weapons and equipment in the Counter-Strike style.
