Square Enix launched the PC version of Final Fantasy 16 this month, with the Standard Edition retailing for $49.99 and the Complete Edition (including both expansions) for $69.99. On top of finally releasing the latter on the PlayStation Store, it also announced a permanent price drop for the Standard Edition.
Like on PC, you can now experience it on PS5 for just $49.99. While it’s a pretty good deal that could go even lower in future sales, it does reinforce the title’s underwhelming sales. Though Final Fantasy 16 sold over three million units in its first week, Square Enix has stated that profits generated from it (and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth) did not meet expectations.
With the publisher shifting towards a multiplatform strategy, it remains to be seen if Final Fantasy 16 will ever launch for Xbox Series X/S. Insider NateTheHate claimed last month that it’s “going to happen”, and he’s simply waiting for the announcement. Stay tuned for updates, and check out our review for the PC version.
