The team at Elegoo have been moving the needle with printing, engraving, and the creator space for a while now, with their newest printers being extremely easy to use. My last reviews showcased this as I simply pulled out the printer, put resin in it, and then hit print successfully — something we demonstrated with the Mars 5 Ultra, Mars 4 Ultra, and Mars 4. At the latest Formnext 2024 they showcased some awesome new tech, as well as a great new initiative celebrating women in the creative space called Elegoo with Her. Let’s dig into what’s new with Elegoo.
Elegoo with Her:
Partnering up with Chitubox and Kexcelled, Elegoo looks to equip more women and girls with 3D printing skills. Coco Lee, Brand Director for Elegoo had this to say:
“Through our extensive interactions with customers and partners, we’ve seen a growing number of women and girls entering 3D printing for personal hobbies, creative projects, or business, which is something that’s truly inspiring to us. With our partners, we aim to sustain this momentum, showcase women leaders, and build a supportive community where women can find guidance from their role models. By combining the power of role models with our in-kind support, we can help more women and girls achieve their goals through 3D printing.”
Designer Anouk Wipprecht showcased a robotic open-source Scale Dress, made with 3D printed parts. The best part is that if you’d like to try it for yourself, Wipperecht also open-sourced the design on her Instructables page with Elegoo, providing a step-by-step guide on how to create the same robotic dress, complete with moving parts! Undoubtedly we’ll see more about this initiative as more women enter the designer space.
Elegoo SatelLite: The All-in-One LCD Slicer
The next item they showcased was a complete surprise — a brand new slicer program called Elegoo SatelLite. This program aims to bridge the ecosystem of their fantastic hardware with software to match, able to improve the to ensure a clean print every time. Able to work with their resin and FDM printers, this slicer will work with their Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and obviously future lines. Let’s get into what’s new with this slicer:
Elegoo SatelLite is a unique all-in-one 3D slicer, offering comprehensive solutions for 3D printing, model editing, slicing, device management, and more. It not only supports Elegoo resin printers but also works with printers from other brands. Key features include:
EVO Support System: The name “EVO” comes from “evolution” reflecting its continuous improvement. Elegoo’s EVO Support System automatically analyzes your model and suggests the ideal support structure for flawless prints. With extensive customization options, it caters to advanced users who want total control. Whether you prioritize speed or precision, EVO guarantees professional-quality results every time.
User-Friendly Interface: Elegoo SatelLite offers a customizable toolbar and an intuitive interface with step-by-step guides, making it accessible to users of all levels. New users can quickly get up to speed, while experienced users can navigate complex tasks with ease.
Comprehensive Material Library: Choosing the right resin and settings has been a pain point for many users. Elegoo SatelLite addresses this by offering a personalized material system that streamlines resin settings management. With one-click access to official profiles, users can easily set up their printers for optimal performance. The intuitive, visual interface simplifies material selection, while cloud-based features like ratings and favorites further boost workflow efficiency.
Advanced Model Repair Tools: Elegoo SatelLite is equipped with advanced repair algorithms that automatically detect and correct model imperfections, ensuring smoother prints and higher success rates. These powerful tools minimize the need for troubleshooting, allowing users to focus more on their designs and less on potential errors, keeping projects on track for optimal results.
Surprisingly the team is ready to go, with the Elegoo SatelLite software scheduled for release before the end of the year, with a Mac version coming in Q1 2025.
Saturn 4 Ultra 16K
The next item was equally as surprising — a refresh on the Saturn 4 Ultra. In this update, the LCD screen has been pushed all the way up to 16K resolution, adding another widely-requested feature — a heated vat. Combined with the new Mercury Plus 3.0 (that we just reviewed right here), it looks like this could be a big step forward for the team.
Centauri Carbon FDM printer
The team didn’t leave FDM printers in the rear view — nope, they had one more announcement to close things out — a brand new enclosed FDM printer called the Centauri Carbon, or CC for short. Aimed at newcomers to the printing space, the CC has auto-leveling, Z-axis calibration, a heated chamber, a 320℃ hardened steel nozzle tip, and hardened steel dual-gear extruder, and can print PLA including fiber, marble, and wood composites, but also specialty filaments such as TPU, ABS, and ASA. It should be an excellent addition to the lineup, helping more folks getting into the 3D printing world.
Print it all, print it now. Endless possibilities with Centauri Carbon's advanced hardware.
We’ve got a few wishlist items ourselves, namely a Ultra version of the incredible Jupiter SE. Could it happen? A man can dream.
We’ll be looking to check out the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K for ourselves, doing a bit of comparison work. Stay tuned — lots of exciting stuff on the horizon!
