Does Dragon Ball Sparking Zero have crossplay? If you want to be the very best, like no one ever was, you should have to face the best. Fighting games like Sparking Zero thrive on a large and engaged audience – just like Goku and Vegeta, players aim to prove themselves against as many worthy opponents as possible.
The DBSZ release date is nearly upon us, and players are already noting down the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero release times so they can be first through the gate once the game goes live. One thing players are wondering about, though, is whether the fighting game will feature crossplay at launch so they can deliver their specific brand of outrageous violence regardless of platform.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will not have crossplay at launch. This means console players can’t play with each other on rival platforms, nor can they fight against PC players. The developers expressed a willingness to include crossplay functionality at launch, but found the process “difficult.”
In an interview with IGN, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero producer Jun Furutani expressed how difficult it has been to attempt to implement crossplay for launch, and as far as the future goes, the answer was “we don’t know yet.” Fingers crossed, then. Fighting games tend to live or die on their multiplayer scene, with decades-old titles still finding an audience through competitions and tournaments; we can’t see the lack of crossplay hurting Sparking Zero initially, but it is something that we would love to see down the line.
