Hideo Kojima has revealed during a stage presentation at the Tokyo Game Show that the Death Stranding 2 release date is already set, but he can’t reveal it until next year due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
I haven’t said the release date today, but the release date has already been decided, and I’m currently working on it in preparation for that. Since we are talking about 2025, it will be released next year, so we will announce it at some point next year. But, due to some unforeseen circumstances, we cannot announce it today.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was announced during The Game Awards 2022, and back in May this year Kojima-san revealed that the game was now in an “adjustment phase’ that will last about a year. As with the first Death Stranding, The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus will feature in a starring role in the sequel and will be joined by Elle Fanning.
Kojima previously revealed that Fanning’s role was crucial to the story; had she turned down the role, then he would have had to rewrite parts of the story.
