Brutal Legend Turns 15, Double Fine Talks About Possible Sequel With Expanded RTS Mechanics

Double Fine has touched on a possible sequel to Brutal Legend as the Jack Black-fronted action game celebrates its 15th anniversary.

Speaking on the official website for the developer, Harper Jay, Double Fine’s Community Manager, revealed that at least 30% of messages the get from fans is about Brutal Legend 2, and Tim Schafer still thinks about the possibility of a follow-up. In fact, he revealed that if Brutal Legend 2 were to happen, he’s more interested in expanding on the RTS mechanics than anything else.

People ask about Brütal Legend 2 all the time and I’m torn about that. I know some of them want it with an evolution of the RTS stuff and some of them just want God of War with Eddie Riggs. I understand the logic of making the second option, but I’m much more excited about the first.

Brutal Legend launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in October 2009, and features Jack Black as Eddie Riggs, a roadie who is transported to a fantasy land inspired by the covers of heavy metal albums. The game’s soundtrack is a major highlight, as it features numerous songs from classic hard rock and metal bands, including Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, Judas Priest, Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeath, Saxon, Scorpions, and more.
