Announced at Gamescom's Opening Night Live, Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes dares to ask: What would happen if the Cylons — a race of cybernetic sentient beings who have turned on their human creators — won in their attack against humanity?
Published by Dotemu (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge) and developed by indie studio Alt Shift (Crying Suns) in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, this new tactical, story-driven game with roguelite elements leans into Battlestar Galactica's theme of escaping an overwhelming enemy. Because what other choice do you have?

In Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes, humanity is on the run. Its settled worlds (known as the Twelve Colonies) have fled to the stars in order to escape the wrath of the Cylons. However, the Cylons are close behind and are determined to wipe out humanity for good. The only choice humanity has is to endure, all while trying to reach the mighty warship known as the Battlestar Galactica, their only salvation against the onslaught.
However, it isn't just the Cylons that you'll have to deal with in Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes. Fleeing certain death takes its toll, and you, as the leader, will have to make narrative and tactical choices to ensure your people's survival. These choices can be as simple as saying the right thing to stop an argument or managing resources across different ships in the fleeing fleet. You might even have impostors on board, in league with the Cylons, to deal with. There are a lot of fires, and you'll have no choice but to be the one to put them out.
But be warned: each action you take while preparing for the Cylon assault will only bring their forces closer and closer. So choose wisely.

Your leadership extends to real-time combat scenarios, too. The Cylons are an overwhelming force, and total victory against them is impossible, so Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes's gameplay is focused on surviving as long as you can before you can make the jump to escape rather than total victory. The main issue is defending your central ship, which hosts humanity's remnants, and is key to your survival. This means players will need to deploy fighters from their hangars and direct them in combat, long enough to let the central ship flee into another sector of the galaxy and hope against hope that the Battlestar Galactica warship may be in that system.
There's a lot of sacrifice in Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes, but with no other choice and as your crew's only hope of survival, you'll have to make the hard decisions to ensure humankind lives to see another day.
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes will be available on PC sometime in early 2026.
