Reports emerged last year that among the several Assassin’s Creed titles that were in development at Ubisoft, one was going to be a ground-up remake of the acclaimed 2013 title Assassin’s Creed 4: Black FlagThough that’s yet to be officially confirmed, Ubisoft itself confirmed earlier this year that it did indeed have multiple Assassin’s Creed remakes in the works. Now, information may have emerged on when the Black Flag remake will be out.

Though the presumption for many would have been that Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag’s remake was likely a ways off from release, a report by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson claims that the game is actually closer to release than anticipated.

As per Henderson, the remake was previously scheduled to release in November of 2025, though with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows recently having been pushed back into February of next year, it’s likely that the planned release windows for other upcoming titles in the series will be affected as well. As per the report, Marc-Alexis Côté – vice president executive producer of Assassin’s Creed – said in an internal email sent to staff Shadows’ delay “will also impact the rest of the Assassin’s Creed roadmap”.

Henderson claims that standalone multiplayer title Assassin’s Creed Invictus is also scheduled for a November 2025 release, though it remains to be seen whether those plans have changed as well. Meanwhile, prior reports had claimed that the next mainline title in the series after Shadows, codenamed Hexe, was targeting a 2026 release. If, however, the Black Flag remake gets pushed into 2026, it’s likely that Hexe, too, will be hit with a delay.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches February 14 next year for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game will allegedly also add a co-op mode post-launch.
