Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be returning with a pretty robust set of factions found in the Zone of Alienation, and they will be core part of the lore.
While you’ll be doing your best to survive in the radiated land, these factions will be adding a complicated layer in the backdrop. Most of them have been introduced via dedicated events in the previous games, so we already have a fair idea about who they are and how they operate.
All factions in Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl
Twelve different factions feature in Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, and there could be a new one being added in post-launch content (we already know that future DLCs are in work).
Bandits | Yanov/Zaton | Jack/Shishak/Sultan | Criminals of the wasteland who will do anything to make a living. Prepare to face them a lot on your adventures. |
Duty | Bar Agroprom | General Voronin | A paramilitary group with an agenda of their own, and they tend to be quite aggressive in their dealings. |
Ecologists | Lake Yantar Yanov | Prof. Hermann, Prof. Sakharov | The main goal of these scientists is to develop new technologies that will aid the human beings and their survival. |
Freedom | Dark Valley Rostok | Mikluha | A bung of free stalkers who are outlaws in the eyes of the Government. |
The Loners | Cordon Zaton Pripyat | Beard | These are those stalkers who aren’t part of any of the other recognized factions. |
Mercenaries | Unknown | Multiple | You’ll want to look out for this band of hired arms who will do anything for money and resources. |
The Military | N/A | Supreme Commander-In-Chief | They have the duty to keep things under control, and they’re part of the government. |
Monolith | Pripyat Sarcophagus Monolith Control Center | C-Consciousness | A strange cult who consider everyone their as their enemies, and they believe that an alien crystal is present somewhere in the Zone. |
Noon | Wild Island | Strider | Noon comprises of members who manage to drive away the brainwashing done by Monolith. |
Spark | Unknown | Scar | A new faction set to debut this year, expect to work with them as you proceed through the campaign. |
SIRCAA | North Perimeter | Ukrainian Government | They’re the official research wing of the government, and they work just like the Ecologists. |
Ward | North Perimeter | Unknown | A new faction, the Ward is led by Colonel Korshunov, but we will have to explore the game more to find out greater details about them. |
It will be interesting to find out how the factions will be playing out in Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. Unlike many other video games, you can’t join any faction, but you’ll be interacting with many of them regularly.
