A Hogwarts Legacy: Definitive Edition Is Reportedly In The Works With New Story Content And More

In a year of really big games, Hogwarts Legacy was the biggest – at least in terms of sales, because for the first time in years it was able to keep EA FC, Grand Theft Auto V, and the annual Call Of Duty from the top sales spot world wide.

Warner Bros has already talked about how creating a follow-up to it, though before that it looks like we’ll be getting a new version of Hogwarts Legacy to try and bridge the gap.

Another report claims that a ‘definitive version’ or ‘director’s cut’ of Hogwarts Legacy is on the way, this time coming from Insider-Gaming who claim that this new version will contain an additional 10-15 hours of gameplay.

Back in June 2024, Bloomberg reported a “director’s cut” was in development, with Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software getting support on it from Rocksteady developers.

There will reportedly be new story quests, new side quests, activities, and of course new cosmetics for players to dress their witch or wizard in.

A key thing for those who already own Hogwarts Legacy to note is that the report also claims this new “Definitive Edition” will be made available as a DLC-upgrade, so you won’t be forced to re-buy the rest of Hogwarts Legacy just for the new content.

It’s expected to arrive sometime in 2025, though the report doesn’t try to pin a release window anywhere. As we edge closer to the end of 2024, the last big night of gaming news in The Game Awards is the only candidate really as to when it could appear, if it’ll be announced before the end of the year.
